Notes About Elkhorn Race Meet (17-July)

Greetings everyone!

I just wanted to update you on a couple things about the WHHA Co-Sponsored Elkhorn Meet coming up on Saturday, July 26th.

First, we are very fortunate to have the announcer from Chester Downs calling the races!  He's got Wisconsin ties and wanted to come back and call races in here -- so by all means we let him!

Second, the race trophies will be part of the Crazy Good promotion.  Once signed copy of the new book Crazy Good (about Dan Patch) will be awarded to each heat winner.  These books were donated by WHHA members Janice Simmons & Rick Tittsler.  Thanks!!

Lastly, after the races there will be a potluck.  Everyone who races a trotter should bring dessert, pacers bring salads or some other dish. Elkhorn Trotting Club will provide BBQ's and soda.

Hope to see everyone there! (And Rice Lake & Monroe prior!)

WHHA Announces 2nd Annual Handicapping Contest (1-July)

Do you have an inside scoop? Do you have a secret handicapping strategy? Think you can pick the winners?

THEN PROVE IT!

Objective: Simply Pick the Most Winners at all the Wisconsin Race Meets in 2008. You will pick one horse in each race as your winner. Due to time constraints, if your horse scratches after you submit your picks, you cannot not re-pick another horse and will be awarded no points for that race.

You will be awarded points based on that horse’s finish. Points are given as follows:
If your horse WINS = 45 pts.
If your horse is 2 nd = 25 pts.
If your horse is 3 rd = 15 pts.
If your horse is 4 th = 10 pts.
If your horse is 5 th = 5 pts.

Points will be accumulated beginning at the Elkhorn Race Meet on June 26th and be accumulated at each meet through the end of the racing season at Viroqua on Sept 14th.

In races where two heats are conducted, only the FIRST HEAT will be a part of the contest.

Everyone is welcome: Fans, Owners, Trainers, and Drivers

Entries must be turned in to Gabe Wand, Susa or the judge’s stand ½ hour prior to post time at each meet. Rice Lake entries must be given to Joanne Gilbertson, video coordinator.

It will be your responsibility to meet the deadline—NO EXCEPTIONS! If you can’t attend the day of racing, entries can also be emailed to gabewand@yahoo.com by 11:59 pm, the night prior to the race date. Entries can be obtained from the USTA website under Entries/Results. (www.ustrotting.com)

The Winner will be recognized as the Star Handicapper at the 2008 WHHA Annual Meeting and Banquet in January 2009. (No Monetary Payout) No Entry Fee—Just Pick ‘Em and HAVE FUN!
